A landscape has a direction, and that is the first thing to get right. A wide view — a mountain line, a canyon, water at night — wants a wall that gives it room to run: above a sofa, above a bed, along the length of a hallway. Leaves and flowers work differently again. A single plant motif reads as a detail rather than a view, which makes it the right choice beside a doorway, above a desk, or as a pair on a narrow stretch of wall.
